Skincare Questions About Best Skincare Products For Acne

Mandy asks…

Best Acne Products for oily skin?

Hi, I am a teenager dealing with acne and frequent breakouts, and I am not having any luck with my current acne products. I use Avon Clearskin Professional. I also have a fairly oily face, so anything with oil control would be nice. I need your opinions though, what is your tried and true product. And also what is your skincare routine. Thanks so much, any response is greatly appreciated.

Joann answers:

Aveeno clear complexion foaming face wash & also the daily moisturizer (for face)
st ives. Naturally clear blemish and blackhead control. (exfoliator)
tea tree water by lush (it's an alcohol free toner)

that's what i use, and my acne has cleared up so nicely. I used to have it really bad. I have oily skin too. That's basically the order of my skincare routine, but i only use the st. Ives 3-4 times a week.

Ken asks…

best lush skincare products?

i currently use the clinique 3 step system but find that its quite harsh and a skincare person recently told me products with harsh chemicals are bad for skin and Natural ingredients are better.
so i was in lush and bought some stuff and they gave me a free sample of vanishing cream.
i really liked it but it as barley enough for one use, so i am not sure if it is as good as i don't really know if it is good or not.
so i was wondering what would be best for oily/acne prone/kind of sensitive skin.
1)cleanser
2) moisturizer
3? face mask ( i was thinking cupcake)
thanks for reading this really long question :D

Joann answers:

I can't give you any recommendations for cleanser & moisturizer, but I certainly can in their face masks :D

The cupcake is for acne, but I find that it didn't do anything much to my skin. It dried out my face a bit and didn't dry out the acne much. It did smell good though, very very good and yummy.

If you don't mind smells, try the cosmetic warrior face mask. It's got low reviews because of it's smell, but my mom doesn't seem to mind it that much, and I think people are just overreacting. It really helps acne & blemishes.

As for me, my favorite is Love Lettuce. It's not for acne but it leaves my skin very very soft after! It's also exfoliating so it's nice, I don't know how sensitive your skin is though, but I love this mask.

It's still best to ask a lush sales associate for questions since they know alot, and they make their products. GOODLUCK!:D

Maria asks…

What products and method work best to remove acne dark spots?

I've been using Proactiv for the last two months. As an acne deterrent, I'd give it about a 5. I'm sure I'll begin using something else just as soon as I can find a better alternative. However, I have a much larger burden. Acne dark spots. In no way has it assisted in gradually clearing these up. I'm using sunscreen and all it seems to do is clog my pores (btw, is there a such thing as a non-comedogenic sunblock?) and I guess not make the spots darker, but what I need also is something to help weaken their appearance until they are completely gone. I'm aware that since I am African American this could take a couple of weeks or months. I've invested in something that is not working, so I'd prefer a new skincare regimen. Any clue? Thanks.

Joann answers:

Apply aloe vera gel daily without fail.

Apply Neat(undiluted) oil of Oregano to the distressed sites.

Take Oil of Oregano capsules to work internally on the infection.

Laura asks…

The best skincare routine ever?

I was looking around on the internet for products to use for acne skin. I found this and i sort of want to try it but im unsure wether it will work. doesnt soap dry out your skin??? So this is what i found:

"Ok...I am going to try to convince you to do what I do and have been doing for yrs. NO ONE guesses my age correctly, they always knock 20 yrs off....yes, I am old.

Just try this....everyone I have told it too, calls me and want to get a patent on it. You have dish soap, and your have bleach. You need only buy a very small bottle of olive oil. YOu put the bleach in a bottle...about an inch then fill w/water. You get your washcloth...or face buffer(little white round buffer pads) Put the soap on the cloth then tip the bottle over on the cloth...so you really just have a small amt....rub your skin, w/a little pressure....go in circles....up around your hairline, in front of your ears...and especially your chin, you can rub a little harder on your chin. Then rinse....dry and get your olive oil bottle....wet both your hands....rub them together, so that they are just damp then again turn the bottle over in one of your hands...w/your hand pressed against the bottle top....so that just a smidge comes out. Rub your hands together again....then rub the oil/water all over your face, under your eyes...

.. Give this treatment everyday a wk. You will see the difference. Some very weatherbeaten skins see new look the same day. My son did all this, then called me. Mom...I have new skin, like a baby. My grson stayed w/me for a wk. I used this method on him.....the kids had been calling him Pizza Face, because he had such acne. I swear to you, the acne was so less noticible, when he went back to school...the kids asked him what he did w/the pizza.

My son has lawn service so is out in the sun a lot. He looked 10 yrs younger. It makes the wrinkles so less noticible. I hope you try. YOu will be glad you did."

Joann answers:

Beach? I wouldnt use bleach on your skin, thats a stupid idea! Bleach burns your skin, especially your face as skin is thinner and more sensitive. And soap will dry out your face really bad. Just wash your face with a flannel and warm water everyday and cleanse tone and moisturise daily too. Preferably a moisturiser with spf as it will protect from sun damage- which causes wrinkles!

Oh and drink lots of water- hydrated skin looks fuller and healthier. Hope this helps.
