Joann answers:
I would say that any shampoo would be the same. Comapnies charge more money for a shampoo by saying its organic and all natural and it smells like lavender or what ever. I the shampoo i been using all my life is pantene or what ever else is laying around on the shelf for a good price.
As far as i am concerned. People have been using shampoos from normal drug or grocery stores all their life and i have never heard of a person loosing their hair or anything because of the type of shampoo they were using. Your hair has to do with your genetics and your ancestors so blame them if anything. If you do want to make your hair look more pretty or shiny try using a B vitamin called biotin. And take 1000 to 5000 mgs a day. In conclusion, me and many other people have used regular wat ever brand shampoos from regular stores and none of us blame the shampoo for doing any thing to our hair.

John asks…
Thoughts on axe shower gel for male?
i heard if you use axe, there is a chance that it might cause cancer and other things...
http://www.natural-skincare-authority.com/axe-body-wash.html
i'm planing on buying this products but this scared me a little bit. If you think axe body wash is bad then can you give me a suggestion on any good male body wash? Thanks

Joann answers:
Axe reminds me of the lazy boys in high school who didn't take showers after gym class. The stench was uniquely disgusting: body odor and a ridiculous overuse of cheap "cologne". The smell of it still makes me gag!
Please don't use Axe! Get a lightly scented body wash, and follow up with a moderate amount of your choice of (non-Axe) cologne.

Betty asks…
organic shampoos,,,,,(10 points)?
i just read this article on how many chemical purology and biolage shampos have and i though,if salon quality shampoos have that many chemicals, then the drugstore brand must have a lot more so im looking for a good organic shampoo that still smells good.and by organic, i mean no pesticides,no chemicals, nothing bad
here are the articles if you want to read them

A pretty good line is Aubrey's Organics. Be prepared because it's not cheap although I have paid more.Aubry organics, are really nice, and they have NO ALS ammonium laurel sulfate, which is like poison, and in almost all types of shampoo (yikes) but Aubrey doesnt have it, even some organic shampoos have it too, so be carefull.

Laura asks…
are drugstroe shampoos that bad????
i recently asked a question about organic shampoo becassue i read these articles
http://www.natural-skincare-authority.com/pureology-shampoo.html
http://www.natural-skincare-authority.com/biolage-shampoo.html
and someone answered my question saying
You have either been duped by advertising, or were not paying any attention at all in chemistry class! ALL soap is "made of chemicals", and in fact your hair (and you!) are, too!
Soaps & shampoos work because they contain molecules that are very polar at one end, and very non-polar at the other, this gives them the detergent quality of being able to "dissolve" non-polar oily molecules into the very polar solvent called "water", since each end of the molecule is attracted to one or the other...
The ONLY difference the choice between using dish soap or really expensive shampoo to wash your hair makes is how your hair will smell afterwards....detergent is detergent is detergent, ultimately the health & environmental impact it has is exactly the same...

Joann answers:
Hey there! Ok so I'm a lil confused with the whole molecule part because in no way am I Miss Science...but to answer your question drugstore shampoos are not bad. My bestfriend uses everything organic from food too even her deoderant. But I have never seen her too concerned about her shampoo and conditioner. Yeah she does by the higher priced kind that you can also get at the salon but brand isn't organic. Think about years ago when all this organic stuff wasn't available for ppl so easily everyone used all the non-organic stuff...and nothing like shampoo was the cause of anyones death or for there hair to fall out! I would stick with buying the more "name brand" shampoos @ the store than the no name brand generic ones...just cause they don't make your hair look or feel as healthy as some of the better brands do! Good luck! Hope you find something for yourself...and that this maybe helped you a lil!

Robert asks…
Is Suave shampoo bad/cancerous?
I read that somewhere and got frightened (see the link below). I am using suave naturals myself and bought few for some relatives. Is it bad for hair and overall health?
I had bought it from Walmart. Will they take it back if unused?
http://www.natural-skincare-authority.com/suave-shampoo.html
I cannot have opened it because I just bought a few bottles from walmart yesterday night. If it isn't bad I can still give it out. I don't want to throw them. I never found a problem with suave shampoo myself. But I don't like their conditioners. I like Tresseme better.
I don't want to throw them. We generally don't have dry hair problem because we oil our hair. Anyway, I don't want to use Suave anymore or gift them either. Walmart is ready to take it back.
Thanks, guys

Joann answers:
No; Suave has exactly the same chemicals as Tresemme and 99% of the other shampoos out there. If you read that site, they claim that cocomidopropyl betaine is the carcinogenic ingredient. Well, that's the main cleanser for most "herbal" and "natural" shampoos. The concentration of these cleansers, however, is soooooo diluted, that unless you literally DRINK the shampoo, you aren't going to be harmed by putting it on your scalp for 10 seconds and rinsing it off.
The only thing that will happen if you use Suave is that your hair will be drier because there are fewer conditioning agents in that brand of shampoo.
